Polymer Compounders Ltd is the scale-up partner for Chestnut Biopolymers, supporting the transition from fossil-based plastics to plant based, biodegradable, sustainable alternatives.
Chestnut Biopolymers have developed one of the first scalable, majority plant-based replacements for fossil plastics. The materials are a drop in to existing injection moulding and sheet extrusion manufacturing used in the mainstream fossil plastics supply chain. The material leaves no micro or nano plastic legacy in the event it finds its way into the natural environment.
Working closely with the Chestnut Biopolymers formulation and testing facility in Darlington, PCL help develop and validate biopolymer blends that replicate the performance of conventional plastics like PP, PE, and PS.
Once a formulation is proven in the lab and successfully tested in the customer’s existing production line, PCL takes over the scale-up and commercial manufacturing — ensuring a smooth path from lab bench to full-scale production.
With over 30 years of experience in compounding, PCL aid in finalising the majority plant-based, biodegradable fossil replacement products developed by the team of biopolymer experts at Chestnut Biopolymers.
